Early in October, Hygiene First (Medical) Ltd. was contacted by a customer who manufacture sash windows. It appears that they had been very close to an industrial accident that could potentially have severed one or more fingers.
Rather than rush around looking for bags of frozen peas to keep the amputated fingers cool in transit to the hospital we were asked to put together a purpose built kit.
After some debate the kit contents were established. The kit box in their case was blue ( we could also make this up in green, red, or transluscent), with a tamper proof seal so that first aiders would know that the contents were intact. Inside the box were a couple of chemical ice packs, a grip seal bag, and a variety of ambulance dressings, HSE dressings, instant finger dressings, microporous tape, safety pins and triangular bandages. As this kit is made up in house by Hygiene First (Medical) Ltd., future customers could vary the quantities to suit their own needs.
